"I have no hang-ups"

I never met Robert Ronald S.J. The first time I stepped into the old eRenlai offices was several months after he had passed from this ephemeral world. Yet as I came for an internship I was also somewhat blindly stepping into his shoes.

When the intention to construct a Focus specifically relating to Bob was brought up, I knew little of this member of the ever more familiar Jesuit family, yet at the same time I was intrigued by this search into his passed life on earth. Searching and documenting the lives of others can also engrave paths into your own dreams, missions and ideals and give you perspective on the difficulties and challenges suffered in your own life. During the making of this modest short film, I remembered the importance of being grateful - as Bob used to say "I have no hang-ups".

A Documentary directed and edited by Nick Coulson and Cerise Phiv, Taipei, December 2010.

I was born in sunny Torbay on the south western coast of England's green and pleasant lands. I'm prowling the streets, parks and ruins of Taiwan hunting for absurdities and studying the sociology of the underground. Furthermore with our nomadic arts and action space "The Hole" we attempt to challenge rigid and alienating structures.
